Site description: Pre-mix concrete depot owned by Hansons.

Geology: Jurassic, Corallian. Birds Quarry is one of a complex of quarries which constitute the type section of the Todber Freestone. It shows a 3.5m section of current bedded, fine grained oosparite limestone containing scattered bivalve and coral fragments. The rock is false bedded, consisting of one massive unit with cross-bedding dipping to the north east. Above the Todber Freestone is the lowest part of the Trigonia clavellata beds.

Site description: Formerly a disused quarry and Dorset County Council Depot but redeveloped with commercial business units.

Geology: Jurassic, Oxfordian, Corallian, Clavellata Beds & Todber Freestone. An east-west section in the area behind the business units, shows up to 2m Clavellata Beds dipping to the east, with hard flaggy limestone above a hard, massive, bluish-grey shelly limestone. Beneath this a friable oolitic sand rests on an undulating surface of the Todber Freestone. Up to 3m of the Todber Freestone is visible, in 3 to 4 beds of cream, hard, massive oolitic limestone which is cross-bedded. The beds are separated by thin friable oolitic sand, and have been weathered along the joints to produce a zig-zag outline on the face.

Geology: Jurassic, Corallian. Quarryfield is one of a complex of quarries which constitute the type section of the Todber Freestone. It shows a 3m section of well bedded, fine grained oosparite limestone, where the face runs along the strike of the cross-bedding. The Trigonia Clavellata Beds thus follow the Todber Freestone conformably.
